Here is the sump on my new 180 before I tidied all the wires up.
Drain chamber -> filter socks -> filtration (skimmer, ceramic bio media, large marine pure block, algae turf scrubber & TLF150 media reactor with seachem seagel) -> return chamber and then the last bit is sectioned off for top off.

Here is my setup. I designed this to be installed as a retrofit. My tank was up and running when I did the swap. I wanted my sump and refugium to be as large as possible but they also needed to fit through existing doors below the tank. I came up with a 40" x 36" sump and a 36"x 30" refugium.

The refugium is design so that water enters from the side and is forced through slots in a false wall along the front that sends water evenly across the width of the refugium. It exits through slots in a false water on the back side and then exits through the return section of the refugium where my return pumps are located. If you look at the first picture, you can see I have a bypass line that allows me to shut the refugium off by closing a valve and opening another so that water draws directly from the main sump.

You can see where the bypass line connects to the return pump intake line. Note that the Reeflo pumps have since been switched out for Royal Exclusiv RD3 230's.

This is super clean, no doubt. What's the 2nd photo? Looks like a toilet paper holder with a roll in it. lol
It is a large roller mat filter, 5-micron paper advances as it gets clogged, No more filter socks and all contaminants removed from the water right away.
