Hello everyone. I set up a new tank today. Wanted to know if I can get sand and water from the gulf in Naples fl for the tank?

Call your local DNR before doing anything. Certain places are not very forgiving and come with hefty fines.


Also when taking from close to shore you run the risk of pollutants.

I wouldn't.. we always get blue/ green algea and, red tide occasionally, in these hotter months. Although I don't think they are a issue right now, I never considered the gulf water as pristine, east coast(Atlantic) is better but not that great

Sand from the shore line usually has contaminants in it.
