My 120 is cycled and I need to do as big of a water change as possible. I have enough rodi to do it all but it's like 60 degree water. Do I have to worry about killing my bacteria being that cold? I have an extra heater going in a 40 gallon drum but that's gonna take forever. The reason I say as much as possible is because I started with tap water that was treated. My dkh is like 15. Just worried about killing bacteria now that I'm finally cycled lol

I started with tap water, I know, I know lol. But I used tap water and couple years ago when I had it running and

I have a 150 gallons of rodi ready to go, I was concerned I might kill of bacteria cause the water is so cold.
it depends on what's in your tap water. chlorine, chloramines, etc...also if your tap is well or city. different areas put things in the water even without telling you. Not sure @Gumbies R Us know but their lake occasionally has algal blooms and they put eucalyptus in the water to mask it. I only found out when I noticed there was an oily residue on me after showering and a neighbor told me all about it.

Everything I've read says 15 is way too high for fish, dkh won't come down on its own right? Has to be consumed or water changed?
15 high for coral, not so much fish. Wai a few weeks for coral and I too suspect false reading. Can you get a local club member or friend to test DKH for you with hanna or salifert kit?

I don't, my local store doesn't use liquid or test strips. They have a good size machine that does it and prints a copy of specs out. I would assume it's correct but ill maybe try a couple different ones. I knowsome lfs are not the best, especially places like petco lol

I spend too much $$$ at my LFS so they test my water for free with that machine. I've come to the conclusion that it's probably ok if you're looking for consistent results, not so much for accurate results.

Ok, yeah I'm gonna see if I can get a different test kit for it.
