Hey everyone, so this is my first tank so Im not sure what is and isn't normal. I have this clear jelly like substance growing all over my live rock and now seems to be creeping onto my glass as well. I couldn't get a clear picture of the exact slime in my tank but I found a photo of it in someone else tank but found no answer to what it was. If anyone knows I would really love the help! jelly stuff in tank 003.jpg

Its about 3 months now, 20 gallon, started with dry rock and live sand.
I did a manual removal and beefed up may snail population and it never came back. I believe its a harmless organism most folks get but the addition of the cuc clears it before it forms a colony.
I actually let that tank go fishless and coral and CUC less just to see what would grow. that was one of the things.
It is possible in yours its a bacteria. but id have to see it. In that case id stop any bacterial and amino or carbon dosing.

wow. yous is a pretty color. yes very similar.
there are in fact sooooooo many organisms in the ocean its impossible to id. most of the names freak folks out as they think its the plague...when in fact theyre extremely common part of the micro fauna in our tanks and are kept under control by the snails and fish, or growth is fueled by elements that flourish in the early stages of our tanks(hence why i ask how old, usually knowing), like silicate and fluoride, that are rapidly depleted by being used consumed and actuall skimmed, not to mention gfo and carbon binders.
some however are not so easily controlled.

cerith, trochus, one small turbo and astrea
