White are on stem of torch

Is it normal or okay for the stem to have a white spot? I honestly can't remember if its always been white or if its new. I have only had the torch for about 3 weeks. It's Fully extended. I did notice on one of the heads near the mouth, it had a bubble like appearance. Tbh it may have always been this way but my LPS haven't been the happiest lately.

Its hard to tell in the photo if its damaged or maybe some sort of sponge is starting to grow on it
