Great to see them extended. My glitter I can't get much on. Maybe in too much shadow.

New member here! :yo: I didn't see a show-off thread for goniopora, but hopefully there are enough of us succeeding with flower pot corals to warrant one, because I would LOVE to see more of these! Here's mine:

Made this close-up pic my screen saver.
It's a bit pinker than it looks in person; I'd say the true color is halfway between the pink in close-up shots and the red you see in my FTS:

I don't know which species I have, but it's defied the difficult label these carry, since I do nothing special for it. I have low to medium flow in my tank and broadcast feed once or twice a week. I see it catch food each time, but I don't make any effort to target feed.

I bought it as a tiny frag in a local shop about a year and a half ago:

One of my best coral purchases to date! Anyone else have one doing well?
dang, nice coral and photos!

I have 3 others all look fine. I dose manganese 1 or 2x a week. .2 ml. I feed phyto 1 or 2x a week and RS AB+
They still die
I’ve had good luck with dosing kz 4 part micro element twice a week at half dose and adding Magnesium in small doses a few times a week. My oldest Gonis I’ve had for close to 3 years . But yeah I’ve had a few that were looking awesome and then dead within a few days. Gonis can be weird but I still love em

I'm starting to dislike goni. It's must be the most finicky of the LPS. Looks great for a while then dies almost over night.
I think the biggest thing that helps with success is trying a goni that has been in tanks for awhile and traded around, wild ones can be finicky.

I agree that the captive ones are a lot easier and faster growing. I found that making sure you trace elements are in line. I usually at a bit extra manganese as well. The biggest factor is just stability and when they are happy try not to move or disturb them. That said my clown pair breeds and play with most of mine and they sulk for an hour or two....

Definitely one of my favorite corals :)
