After about 20 years of fresh water aquariums I've decided to try my hand at a reef tank. I'm starting out with a Reef Casa Studio 18. I'm also using an AI Prime 16HD, Duetto 2 Dual ATO and a Tunze Comline 9001 (not running yet, but in the back chamber). I'm also using a mixture of Stax Flat Rock and Marco Rock, with CaribSea Ocean Direct Sand. Here's are some pics of various stages of cycling. I think I put too much rock and may end up taking some out down the road.

Looks great ! Everything looks really sharp. I’d concur with the others who suggest taking a bit of the rock out. It’s hard to resist the temptation to make the tank look full to start but the corals with fill that in over time.

Any updates ?
I've been a bit a lazy posting. Here are some updates. I've got a Gladiator Clown, a Yellow Watchman Goby, Fire Goby, a hermit crab, 2 zoas and 2 hammers so far.
