Doing a 7 foot long 36” wide25” deep tank and have 5 xr30 g6 blue and 2 xr15 g6 blue. Looking for a nice hanging solution in the form or a rack with adjustability.
height recommendations and spacing suggestions also accepted.
Pic is of current layout with some 80/20 my buddy gave me from his 6 foot tank but I kinda hate it…. The lights aren’t very centered and adjustability is kinda ehhh.

Also thinking of adding one kessil 360 for some shimmer I have laying in
A Drawer.

Please help

At 30" x 20" my little frag tank is much smaller than what the OP is dealing with. I wanted adjustable height for two reasons:

1. Long-term adjustment: I may want to add/remove/reposition or otherwise change LEDs so I may want to modify the standard height depending on convenience, PAR, and spillover.
2. Short-term adjustment: it's a frag tank and I wanted to be able to easily raise the lights so I could get in to work

I went with a slide and ratcheting pully system. This is the Mk. II version (I had to double up the 2m tall vertical rail to add stiffness). Overall I am pretty happy with it. I think the concept could be extended to a larger format.

Little more bracing and come endcaps for rough ends and I think I’ll be satisfied. This stuffs big $ so not trying to wast 300$ in brackets and support that’s not needed. So far I’m into it about 50$

Originally built in 2020, this shot is from 2021.
First build used only two linear actuators for raising/lowering the rack, and I decided on a second set to "keep things level" a bit easier.
With a combination of a cantilever main support (supported by steel cables to the ceiling trusses and stabilized by lag bolts to the wall), this rack and lift system easily supported a few hundreds pounds without any issues.

Since the installation I've installed a pvc sheet shroud around the edges of the rack to contain light spill. Very light weight, incredibly easy to work with.

Detail shots of the initial build:

Original thought was to use a winch for raising/lowering the rack. Put the winch in the barn instead to raise/lower the brush hog for maintenance and focused on using linear actuators instead. Much less complicated in the long run than a series of cables and pulleys.

The rack assembly as initially built. Later added an additional two cross supports (one at each end) for additional light mount flexibility.

Test bed to see if it would work kind of as intended. Also showing the sheet aluminum used to mount the Apex outlet box and Kessil starters.

Kind of how things worked out the first round.

Hope this helps with your adventures.
Cheers,
