40ppm considered safe for drinking water by epa.
Do you have any documentation on this? Primary standards on drinking water do not include phosphate (nor do secondary standards, for that matter).

Just what I Googled. So I will say no. Its funny you get a water test from a supposed independent testing facility they indicate levels "according to epa" acceptable levels but like you when I do more checking into these I find nothing that collaborates their levels of some parameters. Others are listed by epa take arsenic for example .010ppm same on the test I received. Mine was at .006 also in the yellow range. I did find some phosphate levels for ground, stream, lake and reservoir though.
