I thought it might be interesting to document one week of growth from the Cyphastrea Occ. According to all accounts, it is a slow grower. I was surprised to see visible growth in one week.

If you compare the two pictures you can plainly see where it has spread farther out onto the rock structure. In addition, there is visible polyp growth on the existing polyps as well as a new row of polyps just starting to sprout.

Who says good things never happen quickly in this hobby?

You should keep taking pictures like that every week and try to get the same exact angle. Could make it into a sweet animation, that would be super cool. I've always wanted to do it with zoas, but never left them in one spot long enough.

GREAT idea. The best way would be to leave a tripod set up for an extended period of time to get the same exact frame. However, my wife doesn't have a sense of humor about those things so I will have to wing it.

We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the idea.
