Hello everyone, i noticed this stuff growing on the flesh of my Trachyphyllia. Is this a sponge? Because if you zoom in, it kinda looks stringy, like a ball of nematodes or something. Thank you all in advance
Hi all!
For a little while now, my torch has had this clear white spongey stuff growing on its base and the past two days the torch hasn’t been out as much. Last month, I took it out to dip it and I carefully used a knife to scrape this stuff off. It was crunchy and sponge like but I managed to...
I removed a good sized chunk of a chalice that had overgrown a rock with zoas. Once off I noticed this really weird sight. Looks like purple blob that has a deep hole in it and orange filament running through it and don’t know what it is ?!
I need help identifying this new sponge? I haven’t added anything to the tank in ages it doesn’t seem to bother my corals or nem. About the sizes of a small worm, they don’t move and are firm when touched. They don’t fluoresce under actinics. Any ideas?
Ignore the hair algae
Hi I could use some help. I’ve been working on my tank and noticed this orange sponge/growth on my frogspawn. Only on the skeleton and growing over the base wondering if anyone knows what it is and should I be worried?
Hii,
I just found some really strange strings behind some rock work. It literally has the structure of spaghetti. My guess is that it is some kind of a sponge. Any guesses?
Thanks!
I was wondering if the community had tips on controlling/removing a black sea sponge, It has not hurt my corals yet but my sea anemones seem to really not like it, I cut it back with tweezers/lower light, but the black sponge seems relentless. Any help is greatly appreciated
Hey guys, lately i battled against GHA pretty badly and got it over with, using fluconazole after a while. Now, Ive had this tank for well over a year, and of course as every tank, stuff that we’ve never seen before appears and it could be bad or good lol. Anyways I’ll be attaching photos of...
Hey guys & gals , happy weekend, hope everyone is doing ok
Recently found this growing underneath one of my scolymia, appears to be some sort of sponge / truncate but wanted to post photos just to make sure it’s not something more invasive which warrants removal
Here is a photo (attached) the...
This is the sump of my tank, it' about 8 months old. I put a little bit of rock from previous nano tank in here to bring pods in, etc. I was doing maintenance and noticed this stuff on the rock in the sump (it's behind my skimmer so I don't look back there much).
I -think- it's a sponge? But...
Hello,
the following sponge is taking over my tank. It's literally growing over ALL my rocks and covering the base of some corals.
I know it looks like cyano bacteria, but the thing underneath when trying to remove it manually is definitely a sponge like thing.
I tried removing it with a...
This post is just out of general curiosity. I’m assuming these are simply harmless filter feeders of sorts. For some perspective, tank is about 4yrs mature. The sponge is mostly growing in dark spots underneath live rock. The new rock I am curing has a newer growth on top as seen in pics. There...
I bought a sea sponge a few months ago. It was doing great for weeks, then fell over between some rocks for a few days. When I pulled it out of rocks, it has some white and brown goo on it. It looks like algae of some sort. I can see the orange flesh beneath, but the goo seems to be spreading. I...
I am planing on using a microscope in an attempt to identify the type of dinos that I have. In your experience, for what type of Dinos does Sillicate dosing work?
Looking for a frag of this specific sponge. I have a big colony of the blue/purple variety but just lost my small piece of red due to an alk swing. Looking for another.
Thanks
I just noticed these sponge like things pop out and didn’t think anything of it, but since I’m having dwarf seahorses/very sensitive fish in this tank idk if I should keep or get rid of them
theyre white tentacles
Sorry for the bad pictures. It’s i. My fluval 13.5 and I didn’t scrape off the back side of it. You can kind of see it but they look like white webs all over the chamber in the back. Looks as if they’re keeping the chamber clean of detritus in the first one but the second chamber is a little...
My orange tree sponge looks healthy: great color, upright, strong, healthy tissue.
I do not like looking at the plug it came in on.
The sponge would be more attractive encrusted to live rock.
So, can I cut it and gel superglue it to an indent in the live rock?
Also, if i leave an inch of the...
My corals have been recently not opening up as big as they did before. Nothing really changed. My GSP has been suffering since sponges are growing on it, but nothing happened to other corals.
I tried manually removing the sponges but they were soft and wouldn’t come off so i was afraid to hurt...
So this is in a friend’s aiptasia growing tank for feeding his berghia nudis. It’s a type of finger sponge I believe. Its black in color besides the area around the opening at the top of each branch, which is white. Another interesting note is that it will cause a stinging sensation when...
I just moved my livestock to a new tank, and when I picked up my big hammer colony for the first time in months it had these dark worms and white spongey stuff all over the base. What is it? Is it harmful? I see some of the same white on another hammer. What is it?
Can anyone please help me identify what I have growing throughout my reef tank? Are they going to become a problem? If so, does anyone know of a natural predator that would be reef safe?
