Welcome to the 2023 Grow-Out Contest, featuring Bonsai Humilis!!!!

1698213625752.png

This thread will be used for monthly submissions of your growing frag progress!

THE RULES

Rule 1: Competition will last for One Year.

Rule 2: The initial submission (baseline) must be measured on the included frag plug, with the official ruler, within 7 days of reciept.

Rule 3: The last submission must be within 365 days of your first official entry.

Rule 4: The provided ruler must be against your frag for every months’ submission photo.

Rule 5: A picture must be submitted by the end of the month, every month. The last calendar day of each month is the absolute deadline, local time will be considered valid for deadline purposes. I have given a little leeway on this in the past, but we have three organizers this time around, and so to make it easier on them there will be no deviation.

5.1 Optionally this may be accompanied by Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium, and Salinity readings. You may choose to include Nitrate and Phosphate as well.

Rule 6: You can remove the coral from the plug and mount it anywhere that you choose. If placed on a disk it can be moved around the tank. I encourage experimentation with placement as no two frags will grow the exact same, and some can be so picky that a half an inch makes a difference between no growth and explosive growth.

Feel free to PM me or @Battlecorals with any questions regarding the contest.

You make take up to 2 non-consecutive months 'off' without submitting a photo, PM your contest lead if you would like to request this.

When submitting your entry, please @StatelineReefer @BranchingHammer and @Reefing102 so that we may note it in our records.

In the event you change your screenname from the one listed in the first post, please contact an event organizer to make the change official in our records.

Day one for the Bansai!

I attached my most recent ICP and a screenshot of my Apex parameters, no fake numbers here =)

* I started Moonshiners two days ago and have begun correcting some of the parameters from the ICP test (K, Fe, Al). I'm also doing the standard daily dosing, but no mud or vitamins yet.

* I'm also dosing:
** 30ml of Acro Power per day
** 8L of Kalk
** currently 43mL of All for Reef (I'll probably end up reducing this as I get more into Moonshiners).

* PE on my established millis is 4-5mm with the BC ruler, so it seems to be working for me.
