I have been looking into this as well. Would love to have more of my testing automated. Should also probably set up my doser again sometime. But I am out of usable outlets on the wall my reef is on. The big 2 that come to mind are Trident (apex) and Hydros. The new Hydros looks pretty cool but I am wondering how much reagent both of those use and what the break even point would be versus buying the refills for my manual test kits.

Trident reagents last about 2 months if stick to the standard testing schedule which I think is 2 times a day. A 6 month supply is just over $100. So reagent is about $18 a month to test ALK, CALC, and MG..... plus the time you get back from your life which is always in short supply . Obviously that doesn't include the initial cost of the unit itself, but those are the numbers on the reagents.

I kinda feel like this is similar to buying a phone charger at a gas station It may work.... but it could ruin the device.
