Hey all,
I am looking to swap out my aquascape of live rock with dry rock as I want to build something new. My tank is a 120 gallon established tank for 4 years now. My question is will I have an issue? I plan to do pieces of the tank at a time and move the live rock over to give the dry rock time to settle in and gain all the good bacteria, etc prior to removing any of the live rock. I am expecting a diatom stage on the dry rock but what I do not want to have is a Dino outbreak or anything along these lines. Any advice would be appreciated!

I would just expect that the rock may get more unsightly algae on it for a period but nothing dramatic. As long as there is a good cleanup crew, I don't think there will be an issue.
