I currently have a 25 gallon tank with an AI prime. It’s been serving me well.
I’ve started adding more SPS frags and might consider adding a BTA or a small clam. If I did this, I’m wondering if I should opt for a better light then? Such as a AI hydra 32 or a Radion XR15 G5 pro.
What light do...
Hi all reefers,
My crocea was 'sit on' by my bubble tip nem the last whole night, this morning I rescued it out and it looks weak, doesn't respond to light or touch and cleaner shrimp & snails start picking on it?. I'm not sure whether is it dead or still able to save? Pic shows it's in a...
Found this tiny blueish pinkish(I think, colorblind lolz) clam under my zoas. Which I also believe host a peanut worm(3rd pic). Not sure how long the clam 's been there but I don't understand how my tank even has a clam growing lol. Anyone know ID of this clam? I'm still trying to find it...

Hello! I am starting to sell off my clam collection. First one to go is this 4” blue Squamosa I’ve had for about a year...
My tang is "surfing" one of my clams. Should I be worried or is he just playing? I have 3 clams and this is the only one the tang has an interest in. This is happening daily and the tang and the banghai seem to fight over the territory.
Just figured I would throw this funny picture out there, there is a pistol shrimp on the other side of my tank that this guy bonded with, then peaced out ✌️ because the den was too small. Ever since then he has paired with this clam. He Hangs out on it all day, and defends when fish come close...
I have this budget reef light I got off Amazon a while back. Anyways could I keep a derasa clam and if not what about a thorny oyster or a flame scallop? I know this isn’t the most intense light but could I raise it up with some rock? Thanks in advance!
I assume this is a clam because it opens and closes every now and then, but I don’t see any eyes. Bought it from a LFS as live rock, but it much have gotten mixed up. Any chance on ID/ how to take care of it in an establishing tank.

Has anyone placed their clams at the top of their tanks? I'm looking to turn my tank into an LPS dominant tank which means my substrate may not have enough par for a clam, but the top of my aquascape might.
I like the look of clams and I am exploring if it would be feasible to have in my new reef tank. I wouldn’t get one for the tank for a long time (6+ months), but I want to know if I should leave space for it if I can support it. I have a Waterbox Peninsula Mini 25 and an AI Prime 16.
Per ORA’s...
Hello All,
A while ago I purchased a turbo snail that had a strange clam looking hitchhiker. Didn’t think anything of it, but I found one at the waterline of my tank. It doesn’t look harmful, but I would like to know what it is. I am upgrading to a larger aquarium soon, and would also like to...
Pardon the unfamiliarity, my grandma gifted me some smallish (2-3 inch) pismo clams that she had bred in her tank, in hopes that I could raise a few of them on my own. She recommended quite a bit of heavy duty lighting equipment, but I'm tight on money and was wondering if there is a way I can...

So I got two babylon snails...
What has everyone's experience been like with babylon snails. Have you had any problems with them... You know eating other things you didn't intend for them to eat?
Also I initially didn't think I wanted clams... At least not yet, so I thought I'd be OK. But now...
The last time I had a maxima, PAR meters hadn’t been invented. It was 15cm+, grew like crazy, and was maybe 15cm beneath a 150w, 10k halide bulb.
I’m back in the hobby now and have two large (20cm+) maximas (one blue, one pink) currently on the sand at about 225-250 PAR as measured by my...
My tank is pushing one year old and has become pretty stable. Today I received my first derasa clam (less than 2 inches). Tonight I stumbled across an article on Algae Barn which stated they need low nitrate, below 2 ppm. If this is true, my clam is in trouble because my nitrate usually hovers...
What tips would yall have for someone whos never kept clams before? I heard gigas are easier than maxima and I have a 6foot tank so I was considering them, is it true they're easier than dersa and maxima? Most specimens I see online are 2 inches or under I heard they don't ship well under 3...
Just got this new maxima and gave him a FW dip to make sure no Pyramid snails but his “mouth” looks like this. My other clam doesn’t seem so pronounced. Should I be concerned?
Hopefully someone here can help out!
I woke up yesterday to find my LARGE Derasa clam had managed to somehow detach its hinge. When I touch it, it still reacts and try’s to move, but you can feel that the 2 half’s of the shell move independently of each other and are not connected at the hinge...
