Hello all! It’s great being back on Reef2Reef again after a long time and I will make sure to give updates as soon as I can.
Anyways, I recently got some new macroalgae from Addictive Reef Keeping and these snails popped out. I am pretty sure they are Planaxis sulcatus or a similar species in...
Hi!!
Guys I need your help, a couple of days ago, I noticed tiny things in my tank, I do not know if they are worms, bugs, or what they are, but I know there are tons of them.
And I do not know if they could be harmful or not to the reef.
So I was wondering if any of you guys can identify...
Hi!!
For the past weeks, I watched tiny snails growing in my tank, I completely ignoredd it, but now I noticed there are tons of snails and some of them are growing, still tiny but growing, just in 1 glass today I counted 17.
So I was wondering if any of you guys can identify this type of...
Saw a bunch of these egg-like fellas wiggling on the top part of my cerith snail.
I just treated it like it was an invasive parasite; they easily came off the snail when I isolated it and blew some water over it.
But I’m curious, what were these critters?
Purple shell, similar to a sundial. Concerned it will go after my coral but in the months I have had it, no such happening. It was a baby when it came into the tank.
Thank you
Unsure of where to post within a forum..
What snails are recommended for tanks? As a good CUC.
What snails eat hair algae?
I have been trying to find more trochus snails as they can flip themselves over, but I haven't found any the last few months. I have 4 and they basically stay on the...
Hi!
All of my Banded Trochus Snail seem to be suffering from paralysis. They have all fallen off the glass to the floor. Their foot shows that they are alive, but they seem to lack the enegy to attach back to glass and just lie there slowly diying/starving.
I have pulled them all out of the...
Woke up this morning to this ….
Plan is to leave the scoly alone for now but monitor closely … probably will eject the shell sooner or later
Poor snail …
If any of you guys have similar photos post !
Ok, So we’ve had a 50 gal for around 6 months and we’ve had a few snails in other tanks for close to 8 months. We started seeing baby snails popping up on the glass in our tank over the past few days, But we didn’t think much of it. Our skimmer had also been acting up recently (kind of like what...
Hello world,
I discovered an unfamiliar snail in my tank and require assistance in identifying it, particularly to determine if it is beneficial or harmful. I have owned the tank for approximately four months and have never intentionally introduced any snails into it. The only possible way this...
At least three of these guys managed to hitchhike into my new nano tank on live rock. I will try to get better pictures tomorrow when the lights are back on, but they look like oyster drills to me. As far as I know, oyster drills are on the Atlantic side of FL and the rock came from the gulf...
At some point in the future, I would like to set up an aquarium with only invertebrates like snails, crabs, shrimp, brittle stars, and so on. (no fish or corals!) These are in my opinion, some of the most fascinating members of the aquarium hobby and reef ecosystems in general! So naturally I...
Could you please help me id this snail? It was caught off the turkish coast of the mediterranean sea. It seems to be a scavanger, they all gathered around a dead molly or meat but they don't seem to eat any algae. They are very inactive and somewhat nocturnal i guess. Sometimes they randomly...
We found this snail in our tank and cannot figure out what it is! We know it isn’t a bumble be snail. The body is white. We just really want to make sure it isn’t a harmful snail to our coral. It definitely hitchhiked on one of our newly bought coral frags. The store reps don’t know what it is...
I’ve just bought a pyramid algae snail (tectus snail) from my LFS, i put it in my tank and i’ve come to realize it has this weird looking thing on it shell. Whatever it is seems to retreat quickly back into a hole in the shell when i move the snail when it feels endangered. can anyone help me...
Hi!
I just started in the hobby, after water being cycled added 2 clown fish, 2 turbo snail, 2 bumblebee snails, a cleaner shrimp and recently added my first coral!
A day ago I noticed this tiny snails, this is the best I could do taking video of it, so far I noticed to be 4 or 5 of them. I...
I'll keep this brief: in in dire need of some snails for my macroalgae tank, and I have had 0 luck finding some avaliable. My lfs screwed me over today and sold me a dead dove snail, and online shipping prices are unreasonably costly. If anyone in the Sacramento or Roseville area is has any...
Hello all!
So about half a year ago I purchased some astrea snails, and have never had any issues with them, except for two of them would have some sort of string come off their shell. I’d worry that it was a vermitid snail, so I’d try to cover with with super glue, but they always seemed to...
