Just wondering what you guys thought about this stock list. Lets assume that your filtration is up to par.

what wrasse would you replace it with
I love the Halichoeres, some of my favorites:

Adorned Wrasse (Halichoeres cosmetus)
Timor Wrasse (Halichoeres timorensis)
Melanurus Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus)

Yellow Wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus) is also cool. Tons of cool Fairies and Flashers to choose from too.

I love the Melanurus Wrasse, I’m hoping to find one at one of my LFS soon, I don’t really like online ordering fish because of the high price of shipping and that they must be very scared through the shipping process, corals are a different story I’d say.

He sure loves to overstock tanks, at least from my opinion. :) I’d put a Marine Betta, maybe a pair if possible, in a tank of that size instead of the 3 tangs.

He also suggests two Cardinals and two Firefish. I don’t know about Firefish, but is it true that with fish like Cardinals and damsels, that if I get a small group of them odd numbers (3-5) would be preferred?

First of all get fish you like, but learn about your choices and what they are compatible with before buying them. Make a large list of what you like and start to widdle it down based on aggression, and compatibility. DO NOT EVER IMPULSE BUY LIVE STOCK.
Stocking a tank heavily will help support allot of corals in the future. You don’t put all the fish in at once. His list of tangs are all different species which is ideal.
But some, like tangs, chromis and anthias need to go in ideally at the same time to help curb aggression. Also remember inverts count as livestock.

If you have a sand bottom, the gobys are great. If you have no sand skip the gobies.

I have a 130g tank and my list is:
1 Purple tang
1 Kole tang
1 tomni tang
1 fox face
1 purple fire fish
1 red fire fish
1 swallow tail angel
1 potters angel
1 Carpenter Wrasse
1 McCoskers Wrasse
1 Lyertail anthias
1 Royal Gamma
2 ocularus clowns
2 Chromis
1 cleaner shrimp
20 trocus snails
5 mexican Turbo snails

With Banggai cardinals a pair is ideal as long as they're a mated pair as they are not tolerant of conspecifics once sexually mature. Pjs can be kept in groups. Firefish are not tolerant of conspecifics but in a large tank you can get away with more.

I have a 135 with
1x purple tang
1x blonde naso tang
1x Vlamingi Tang
1x Blue throat Trigger
1x Snowflake clownfish
1x neon dottyback
1x 6 line wrasse
and I am not done, I will eventually get about 10 springeri damsels and some smaller fish

What people believe to be overstocked is different eye to eye. I feel like if you can keep the fish fat and happy and keep chemistry on par than you can keep how ever many fish you want as long as you think in advanced about some of the certain fish you keep like my vlamingi will eventually grow out the tank (already 7in + streamers) and he will have to be rehomed soon.

Definitely needs a few wrasses, lo!!! The only fish that will really add a load to the tank are the tangs.

I have a 120 gal tank, fish list is:

1 LT Tang
1 Gold Rim Tang
1 Tomini Tang
1 Pintale Fairy wrasse
1 Oynx Clownfish
4 Blue/Green Chromis

and I have 2 Diamond Tail Flasher wrasses that just finished QT and will be introduced in to the tank within a week.

Can two wrasse in the Halichoeres family get along in an 80g 4 ft tank? I have a Timor but thinking melanorus as well.

As for the stock list:

1. Yellow Tang- Yes

2. Bristletooth Tang- Yes as long as it’s not a big one like the Chevron.

3. Blue Hippo- No

4. Anthias Harem- I’d do no more than 3. 6 is overkill on filtration.

5. Sleeper Goby- Starves easily. Replace with Shrimp and Goby Pair.

Rest are fine.
