I've been in the hobby(since age 5)through various sizes of freshwater high-tech planted aquariums, 75 gallon aquatic turtle aquarium and I also have experience with my fathers 90 Gallon dream build Reef aquarium (my profile picture). As the common aquarist "new tank syndrome" set-in I strived to plan and construct a custom Nano Reef. So far I have live sand, some dry rock, and various equipment. As well as RODI water mixed with salt. I built the stand custom, as well as custom drilled as well as plumbed the aquarium. I have many nearby future plans for this aquarium and hope to add in line UV sterilizer, in-line Phosban reactor, in-line heater, and a decent protein skimmer.

Current equipment:

10 gallon drilled tank
Custom built pine stand
Marineland C-150 canister filter
Neo-therm 100watt heater,
Koralia Nano 220 circulation pump
Current USA orbit marine LED
Temporary UV sterilizer( green killing machine)
Marineland single bright LED( cabinet light)
API saltwater master test kit( additional phosphate kit added)
Other various test equipment
Dry rock(live rock to come)
Live sand
As well as a whisper air pump to run a protein skimmer

Future livestock:

Clowns,
Clean up crew
Shrimp
Simple easy to keep corals
Any suggestions

Current parameters:

PH: 8.3( what to you guys suggest?)
Ammonia: .5 PPM
Temp: 79
Nitrites: undetectable

Dosing:
Seachem Stability(daily)
Kent marine nano reef 2 part complete supplement(daily)
Prime water conditioner( water changes only)

Any experience with the Mame nano reef skimmer? If so comment. If no any advice as to a better nano skimmer? Small, quiet, easy, budget friendly.

Any additional suggestions, questions, or advice will be appreciated as I strive to build a quiet, elegant, yet stable Nano Reef.

Canister filter is running on strictly, polishing pad, carbon, and Chemi-Pure Elite. No bio to avoid nitrites and to let the live rock eventually do the work

I also have a Battery back up to keep my circulation pump, and back up heater on in case of an outage.

The back, bottom, and plumbing is insulated to keep the tank as stable and consistent as possible while guarding against 65ish temps in the house

I like it, i have kept softies and Lps with it.

Awesome, do you think an anemone would thrive under it? Also, what setting are you using? I love it's customizing but I the cord that attaches the the controller is broken and sometimes won't let the light turn on.

Alright, well I'll give one a try, haven't added any livestock to the tank hey, hoping to add some live rock and then a clean up crew.

Nems are fickle and like to move about. I have one and just when you think its comfortable it moves about somewhere else in the rockwork. They also like pristine water conditions, not friendly with flow, weird about lighting, and will kill any corals in their path. Can you tell Im not much of a fan? Really if they fit in your overall plan go for it but know the possible issues with these guys. Bubble tip anemone or Carpet is the way to go.

Alright, thanks for the info. I'll definitely consider your opinion as a more experienced reefer than myself. Any possible ideas about a skimmer? I want to stay as quiet as possible yet efficient and small

Thanks, experiance is relative to the number of mistakes you make and the success that overcome them. Ive been lucky coming back into it after a twenty year hiatus, but this time with only one 29 gal tank. Nano tanks werent an option back then. Skimmers on a 10 gallon isnt necessary if your water changes are frequent enough. Your money is better spent elsewhere... Like more corals;)

How's the 29 gallon tank doing?
