Sump area is still a work in progress as it is only temporary because im setting up a basement sump! Dont mind all the crap in the sump compartment haha.

Looks like a skimz skimmer? What water level are you running? Mine says 7-9 but at 9 it doesn't seem to happy

Yes its a bigger skims 501 maybe i forget, but its in about 8” of water. Seems decent skims a little wet they are kindof hard to fine tune in my opinion. Once its set its a monster though!

Thank you! Theres some finishing to do and im currently builing the fish room in the basement going to go triton method i have a 100g stock tank, 2 55g tanks and a 40 breeder for a frag/ prison tank for bad fish haha.

I just got the skimmer and its only been set up for a few weeks but i like it alot so far, it is very adustable with the air intake adustment and gate valve adjustment but its really sensitive. Is yours skimming wet or not enough?

Super wet like it would fill up the cup in minutes and if I turn down the air flow I get micro bubbles coming out of the skimmer into the water

I had that problem as well, i keep the air wide open and adjust the bubble level with the gate valve so the bubbles are at the bottom of the collection cup neck and that seems to be the sweet spot for me. Mine is a skimz sm-201.

I tried air wide open and gate wide open and bubbles pour into the cup

Skimmer is still quite the learning thing for me

Trying to figure it out now while tank water is new before I have a sump full of skimmate lol

How did you resolve the issue of the bubbles coming out of the skimmer?

I can get it adjusted to get some good bubble action without overflowing but with the air intake closed down to that point tons of microbubbles are coming out of the skimmer

Honestly mine doesnt send out many bubbles out of the gate valve and what comes out gets broken up in the bubble trap section of my sump through the foam block, but if you have a crazy amount of bubbles is it possible theres something in the water? My skimmer goes crazy when i add new filter socks or anything new really... then calms down after a few days.

Starting on the basement sump build and will update pics as it progresses but got a few new inhabitants over the last 2 weekends! Also got 140 lbs of various rock types 100lbs of billy hay’s dry rock and 40lbs of caribsea life rock shapes. Aquascape pics to follow.
