Little history of how we got to this build thread.

Been into saltwater for many years. Was an immigrant from the old 3reef days and came over here when the site was basically taken down. I have had many tanks over the years but my two displays to be proud about were my 55 gallon and my 220 in wall. You can find those build threads here...

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/220-gallons-of-eye-candy.245484/

Please read through these as I think they are quite impressive.

That leads us to here. The 220 after moving it down stairs, became too much with the moisture. No matter what I had done, it just got worse. It needs to be take down as hard as that is. Its a safety issue. This decision was made this week (8/1/23).

I was able to come across an older style 29 gallon BioCube from a friend of mine. My plans are to keep my 13 year old paired and mated B&W clown fish, mostly LPS with a couple other fish that the kids will eventually pick out. Maybe some SPS because I just cant help it.

This is just the beginning, so please, stay tuned. Thanks.

Can’t wait to see what you do! Also we now own 3Reef and I could see about moving that info over here under your name. :)

That would be awesome.
I'll be honest I don't post much here lately with kids and family life. I would like to change that. It will take me familiar to get back to navigating this site some what, I really like the "Showcase" that was on 3reef. If possible, can that be a thing here if it isn't already. Were going many years back here so sorry if I'm still a bit fresh.

We actually do have a showcase feature! You get a little badge by your name that takes you to your "Reef Showcase", has all the info about one's tank under it.

For flow I was wondering about using my Gyre 4k from my 220 and run it at about 20% or so. Is this overkill?

Hey neighbor, I’m next to you in the Youngstown area and have a 32g Biocube. I look forward to fallowing this build.

I just picked up a 32g biocube myself. I look forward to watching yours progress!
It’s sad to see the 220 go but I’m pretty excited for this project. This will be better suited for my busy family life.

No matter the size it’s always nice to have a piece of the ocean in your home to enjoy.

Very very nice.
Let me know when you’re ready, I would be happy to set you up with a few frags to get you started if you’re interested. I could give you a couple canaries for your coal mine to test things out.

Drilling holes in the brand new stand.

ATO using an autotopoff.com float valve, small pump and some tubing. Very basic and easy.
Even complete with a lid to minimize water evaporation.

Did a little research and I come to find that my tank is actually a 29 gallon biocube and NOT a 32.
This is an older tank with the PC bulbs, not the LED.

I have edit the title and some of the posts to reflect this change. My apologizes.

I had a 12g biocube with the T5 bulbs as my last (and first) saltwater tank. It’s still a great setup to start with and considering just how many people pop the top off and run AI Prime LEDs and protein skimmers on them anyway, it doesn’t really make a huge difference. Plus 3 gallons either way isn’t much of a difference.
