I bought a secondhand 20 gallon fish tank last week to set up as a reef tank it was
very dirty so I cleaned it out with bleach and washing up liquid. Then I filled it with warm water from the bathroom sink
checked it was the right temp waited awhile then added some table salt from kitchen maybe 10 cupfuls
waited at least an hour before adding a bubble tip anemone and clownfish I know anemones like light so I used a 100 watt bulb in my bedside lamp which I've cleverly turned into a fish light I glued it into the lid of the tank looks great.
I floated the clownfish for 3 hours to be safe but just dropped the anemone straight in as I read corals don't need floating like fish.
After 10 mins both died I can't workout why this happened?? I've since bought 3 more nems and clownfish and all have died!

Should I buy more??

Please help

I'm going to try one more time with an anemone and 2 clowns my lfs gave me some safe start plus I've added some
Vinegar like you suggested

My lfs guy said anemones are picky so I should keep trying (fingers crossed it works this time).

I've done a water change to remove the vinegar. I'm heading to my Lfs now to collect a sebae anemone
plus was thinking about a purple tang I've watched some videos on YouTube on how to pair clownfish with nems so I figured I'd put the tang in the bag with the nem while I drive home hopefully it'll host the tang in the tank.

Thanks for your advice guys wish me luck!

I'm guessing this is a joke. If not, whatever LFS is advising you, should be shut down.
