Hey guys, I'm a bit late on this...but better late than never. These are my all time favorites, and sadly, I own not a single polyp currently. A good friend locally has about 12-15 polyps he is growing to get me the stock back. At one time I had enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket...actually still looking for those pics.
Origin, unknown...but defintely not Caribbean. When I owned the fish store we had a customer that also built some very nice cabinets. He invited me over one day to check out his tank as he was wanting to upgrade some equipment. I was not prepared for what awited me. He had a 120gal in wall, and the only corals were one wall of GSP, one wall of PSP, a huge rock of brown palys, and the rest was being overtaken by the Armegeddons...we're talking 4-5000 polyps easy. Well, he didn't like the Armegeddons (insert evil laugh here!) so I asked what he wanted to clear some out....he said $100 take all you can fit in a bucket...so, just to make him happy (ok, 1 more evil laugh), I obliged.
That was just towards the end of summer 05'. They did fantastic here until the beginning of summer 06' and the first heat wave came on much earlier than expected. My tanks are all outside, and that one ominous day the temps in the water hit 92-93 for a couple of hours max. The Armegeddons never recovered and I painfully watched them dissolve over the next couple months while I did everything humanly possible to save them.
Here's some pics for old times sake. If you have some of these, treasure them, they are beyond compare...well, at least IMO
Enjoy!
