Hey All,
My tank is cycling and I'm now into the "diatoms" phase. It's difficult to see all your hard work covered in brown dust. Please inspire me and help me through these troublesome algae stages. Show me your tank when it looked bad at the start, and (hopefully) a picture later with it looking glorious!

Here is mine:

Yea it sounds like you have been bit.
I've started the saltwater with live rock in the past, which eliminated a lot of the "uglies". But this time I do NOT want pests. I have several I battle from the live rock.
If patience can eliminate pests, then I can (pretend to) be patient.

Mine got nasty and hairy for a month or more before it finally started to subside. Its all a waiting game. Convince yourself its just an angry toddler and you can outlast it!

Start (Day One) to Diatom Completion (Day 17)

Algae showed up shortly there after (call it October 1st) - and it was basically gone around January 1 - so call its 3 months or so?
