AI Hydra 26 HD spectrum setting

Hi folks,

I am changing my light to the Hydra 26 HD. Wondering what is your successful spectrum for coral color pop and growth. I have a mixed reef with mostly sps on the top and lps (chalice, acan, socly) at the bottom. Will turning the UV and voilet same as blue will burn the corals? Any picture or info will be much appreciated! Thank you

these are the settings I currently run. using the same as my LFS who has 26HDs over several tanks.
both my tank the the LFS's are 20" deep, I dont think theres an issue with the violet, but watch the UV for sure.

what i was told when i bought and switched to these lights was that it would fry the coral.

Depth of the tank, light mounting height and acclimation time will all play a part in it.
my tank being 20" deep I was told not to put the UV above 11%

even looking at David Saxby's tank, his UV never goes over 43% and his tank is 4 feet tall

I do see people run it at 40% UV. What is the color effect and grow effect with UV light on corals. Sorry for asking noob question

I don't limit my UV as it's right in the peak of the Chlorophyll A peak.

I also run my reds at 30%. My peak mid day spectrum looks like this:

You should move this to the aquarium lighting forum and you will get a lot more feed back. I run an AI26HD with 4 24" T5.

UV will cause some of the fluorescent pigments in some corals to fluoresce more vividly and/or with different colors. I don't know if it helps them grow in any way, but I would guess not, at the levels that LED lights provide. Also, with your Hydra, don't forget that you only have one 1 UV LED for every 7 blue/violet and 3 white LEDS, so the amount of photon flux that the UV LED is contributing is relatively small. Anyway, I run my UV at 55% and everyone seems ok with it.

It would be interesting to compare the UV output of one of these fixtures with that produced by a metal halide bulb of similar overall light intensity. At least with LEDs, you can turn down just the UV if you want to.

My tank is a IM Nuvo Fusion 24 and I run 2 AI primes. These settings seems to work for me. I've been told too much blue for long times can cause a lot of algae growth. I've had good coral growth with not too many algae blooms.

Here is what I'm trying to run right now. Might need change it up a little. Any advice? I'm using it on a nano that's why all the level is low.
