Hello! I'm leaning into treating for bryopsis with fluconazole, but was wondering about the question in the title. I have a blue plating sponge and just wanted to know if the sponge is fine staying in the display while the treatment is going on. From a little bit of reading I think it should be okay, but any thoughts are welcome, thanks.

I have numerous sponge types (photosynthetic, ornamental & cryptic) and I don’t add fungus treatments.

Besides marketing statements, what research have you found?

This was the only thing I found regarding the question after quick research.... claims that it has no effects but I wanted to clarify the question and see if anyone else had input before I went through with it

Had to pull the blue plating sponge as it was invasive.
The cryptic sponges are still there after floconazole 3 months ago.

Sweet, yeah the blue plating sponge is isolated on a rock to (hopefully) avoid that invasive issue because they really do grow crazy fast. Thanks for the input

the blue/purple plating sponge is apparently sensitive to the algaecide in algaefix etc. which is odd since the symbiont is a cyano, and mostly that algaecide doesn't harm cyano. Myself and others experienced this.
It's hard to know if the sponge or symbiont will be harmed by something like fluconazole that kills organisms of multiple different classes.
Best off just looking for others experiences.

Luckily my piece is still fairly new and small and cheap... so worst case scenario it might need to be sacrificed and I'll purchase another later
