Calcium tests precipitate magnesium, and if it is not complete, readings will be too high as it may detect some magnesium as calcium.

That’s a magnesium test kit though.

I tested my Ca this weekend and couldn't get it to hit on a titration test (meaning 500+)....so I just chucked the tests. lol. I'll do some water changes today but I'm not all that wound up about it.

Oh, sorry. I mistakenly assumed from the title we were talking about calcium. I expect it is the opposite: a step to bind up the calcium so it doesn’t show as magnesium.

My calcium is on the rise - my apex which was caliberated less than a month ago reads 720 and alk 8.75 mg 1301

should I be worried - only dosing is calcium reactor any reason it’s not working properly ? Ph for calcium reactor is 6.25

Check with another test kit

I dont think it is likely to be accurate using a CaCO3/CO2 reactor. To boost calcium by 300 ppm with such a reactor will boost alk by about 44 dKH.

Checked yesterday with Hanna kit and it’s 498 , will check again today just to be sure
