Aqueon 125 gallon aquarium 2 overflows Plumbing Lay out...

I am plumbing my new tank this weekend and am looking for anyone with a Aqueon dual overflow setup that could provide a plumbing diagram. Thanks in advance!

your two overflows go into the sump. You then make a T with valves - to choose which return you want to send the water to.

Why would a Y with both open not be better?

OH - you can do that of course - BUT - if the tubing on one side is not completely equal with the other side - the water will flow to the shorter area. Second - it just allows more fine-tuning of what you're trying to do.

Yea but I have to plumb from the bottom of the tank to the sump and back up to the bottom of the tank. The kit is just to the bulkhead.

Got it! Okay. I have the same tank. Each of the overflows from the tank flow separately to my sump. The return pump is split via a T to feed both return lines.

Valves on the return after the T or Y is best because in the future you may want to direct more flow one way or another depending on rockscape and such. I used to have that tank and miss it today!

Where do you get one of those? They have one at my LFS store but I’m told you can’t drill it cause Aqueon uses tempered glass.

You have to test it..apparently they use tempered sometimes and sometimes not.
