At the shop i bought them from they said they fed them frozen but here i use an auto feeder during the day, so i feed them flake. They seem to be interested and eat it before spitting it out. Any tips on how to get them to eat flake?

You may need to try a variety of flakes / pellets before you find something that works for you, they are hard to feed these ones.. I feed Vitalis Platinum Flakes and squid flakes (cant remember brand!)- all my fish (incl. the cardinal!) are crazy about it..

In my auto feeders I feed Vitalis Marine Pellets / Platinum Marine Pellets (mix!)

I’ve never had a Bangaii or Pajama eat flakes. I did have a pajama that ate seaweed extreme pellets for some reason. No other pellets, just seaweed extreme.

You may eventually find a flake it will eat, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Cardinals in general can be picky eaters. Mysis, brine, and big meaty chunks have always been the favorite of my cardinals. Larger flakes of flake food may help, but I wouldn't bank on them ever reliably eating it.

my banggai never eats pellets or flakes, ive had him for 3 years and he's watched almost all my other fish eat pellets, yet he only takes frozen still.

As long as you pretty regularly feed frozen though you should be good. They gorge on frozen, can eat pretty giant chunks, and have fairly large stomachs for their size not needing to eat as often as a lot of our critters

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
