I have a 120 gallon tank (4×2×2) sitting around and like any good saltwater aquarium keeper, I can't just leave it dry. I've always done reef tanks, but I'm thinking about doing this as a FOWLER. Give me your 'best' FOWLER fish that you can't keep in a reef tank to help me figure out a stocking plan, please!

i cant think

Without a doubt, I’d go for a predator reef over a FOWLR if you want something odd. But this is a personal preference.

In terms of a nice FOWLR fish why not have a medium sized Angel? A Chaetodontoplus species or small Pomacanthus species would be good. Also, butterflies are a good choice - Chaetodon trifascialis is a nice species that if you continue to feed acropora hyacinthus in its diet, would possibly thrive.

I’ve kept a 240 gal FOWLR for 15 years running. My vote are the large marine Angels. I have 7 in my aquarium and they’re big, beautiful and full of personality.

I’m particularly biased towards the Maculosus, Asfur, Majestic and Queen, but they’re all great.

Since angels are already covered (and rightfully so, no tank is complete without one) Eels are another commonly seen FOWLR fish that are super cool, a snowflake would be a great choice for your tank.
