Bought a new piece of live rock this evening and I noticed these little maroon blobs. What are they? Could they be a type of coral?

I forget the exact name but is a type of bubble algae. It's a nuisance algae get rid of it. For warning it's not easy to get rid of.

Probably botryocladia skottsbergii. I'd Remove the rock from tank before removal. I'd also probably hit the rock with some h2o2 and definitely rinse before returning it to the tank.

Thank you! I took the rock out of the tank, removed them, rinsed and put it back in the tank.
