Can an Anemone split at any stage in it's life?

Do Anemones split after they hit some kind of mature size, or can they split at any stage of their life?

My rainbow was about 8 or 10" across and finally split a couple months ago. My rbta was about 4 or 5" and split. Stress or regular feeding can both cause the process.
