Citron Goby Question

Does anyone know if Citron gobies hide in the sand for extended periods of time? (similar to leopard wrasses). My buddy who is usually super social has disappeared for the past 2 days- in a 5 gallon deskmate mind you- so not many places to hide. No body, and even if the CUC got to him there's only two small hermits along with the snails I assume I would have found something.
Also I've been burned by a brown clown goby that did the same thing. disappeared for two days then showed back up randomly. Is this common behavior?

Goby's are strange creatures. Maybe you should check your overflow. (If you have one) Besides that it's just a waiting game.
