My fiance and I were looking at fish at our LFS today. Some of their clownfish were huge. She asked me how long it takes for clownfish to get that big and I didn't have an answer? How long does it take for clownfish to reach its full growth?

Different breeds should be close in size unless they're from different species (like Ocellaris clowns are a different species than Maroon clowns; Ocellaris clowns can get to ~4" while Maroon clowns can get to ~6").

Having multiple clowns, I found most grew their fastest the first year. A lot will be based on tank size, fish health, diet and breed of clown. Sebae, maroon and Saddleback can get quite large.

Ive had my maroon for 11 years. Growth really accelerated after about 3 years when I believe she turned female. I think she is still growing actually. The male is six and hasn’t grown much.
