Clownfish white patch... help

Hi, I just saw one of my two clownfish has this white patch. An hour ago I am sure it didn't have it.

What it can be? I am worried!

This appears to be an injury with a possible bacterial growth (hard to tell with blue lighting and best under white light intensity only). You can use seachem Kanaplex in a treatment tank or ruby rally Pro in tank safely but Ruby will take a little longer

- Api Melafix

Could you maybe check which one is more suitable? I more towards the first one!

Are you certain that this lesion showed up overnight? Could the center spot have been there yesterday or the day before? The reason I'm asking is that the halo around that center point is called blanching and usually that takes time to develop. It can be a sign of bacterial infection.

The trouble with these "medications" is that they are completely unregulated and they do not list their ingredients. Consider them more of a "tonic" than a true medication. The Melafix for certain is just an herbal tonic. The main reason these products even exist is that many countries (all of the EU and Canada) restrict the sale of true antibiotics for aquarium use.

This is post injury and should heal on its own
You can provide ruby rally pro within the tank to provide protection and healing or if it becomes red or sore, treat in separate tank with seachem kanaplex

To me, Looks like a bite if it showed that quickly.

Not consistent with bite as it is blanched and infected

It’s a bit weird. I just came back at home and the patch is much smaller and almost disappear. How is that possible?

IMHO - this is an injury (of some kind) - there is no way to tell if it's a bite, or a coral scrape or something else. The speed of onset is extremely important. Why? Because certain bacteria can kill quite quickly. Second - it rules out other parasites.

My suggestion - would be a hospital tank - with kanaplex or neoplex per instructions. Reading that its disappeared (or almost) - suggest more that its a non-infectious issue - which would tend to get worse.. So. I personally would still treat it - with antibiotics in a hospital tank - but I think it might be worthwhile just observing

I just bought some liquid vitamines supplementation to add to the food. It should boost their immune system!

I'm guessing it will not. I'm not sure there is evidence that it will boost the immune system * unless the fish was starving or vitamin deficiency. However, given what you said - I would watch carefully - IF its worsening - you can also set up a bucket as a QT tank *(heater and flow) - quite simple.

Same much in Canada.
I’ve been lucky as those type injuries and bites heal quickly in well fed and low stressed fish.

Not much choice up north here. Good stuff difficult to get.

Yes.. would be very helpful to get a list of the good stuff we can get in Europe from our forum vets

Also, the clownfish seems totally recovered and there's no sign of the patch on it's body anymore.
