Conch Eggs?

I have 3 fighting and a strawberry. 2nd time in a week I have found a gummy blob on the sand. This amount is larger than the conchs though. Is this indeed their eggs? That’s a credit card scraper its on for sizing.

Look's somewhat like them.

Usually with fighting conchs, when they are laid they look like a big noodle mess.

Is that what they looked like on the sand bed before disturbing them?

no, I actually thought it was a dead snail at first. like white chewing gum with strands of sand. The other one was the same. I already tossed it. The other big thing in there is a Mex Turbo. If I find another next week I'll dissect it more.

cant see them clearly but there eggs are often bell like in a wrap similar to your pic. These are from queen conch

nope. that's not what I have. Mine was more like a conch pulled out of its shell with sand glued to it. Like someone dropped in white chewing gum and mixed it in the sand.

Thats what I thought and I suspect its a mucus they produce to stick to sand and protect themselves known as mucin actually a secretion and appears to be this mixed with sand

that sounds more like what it could be.

Update. Found another mass and I believe the culprit is the fighting conch attached to it. It’s more than twice his size at 1/2”x2.5”. Looks like secretions, eggs and sand. Hard to believe he makes that much over night.

Already laying eggs again this morning.
Keep taking them out or see if they hatch? How long?

yeah. right now there's 3 fighting in there and a strawberry till I can place them back in the other tank. The Octo was leaving them alone but not sure how long that would be for. they also were not very active at a lower temp.

I'm not sure how long it would take for the eggs to hatch, but they'll hatch as planktonic veligers - so they'll be eaten by pretty much everything in the tank.

thanks, I had to look that up. seems to be about 5 days to hatch, 3-4 weeks as veligers then start to form shell as bottom feeder.
