I plan on starting my tank with some live rock and the rest dry rock and live sand. I have also purchased Dr. Tims ammonia and All in one cycling bottles. Would it be wrong for me to "start" the cycle using those bottles, or do I just let the live rock do its thing?

Side note: I purchased live rock from a previous owner and its been in a closed container with circulating water and heat for approximately a month.

Thank you!

There's no need for the added bacteria if starting with live rock.

Just so I'm understanding, I don't need to at the ammonia or the nitrifying bacteria?
Correct. The effect you're hoping to achieve is already being handled by the established rock.

Ok thanks! I tested the parameters a while ago from the stored live rock and they were from what I can get from my research to be good.

PH: 8.0
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: ~5ppm

As long as heat, salinity, circulation and gas exchange have been maintained.
