So did you do some water changes to bring the tin down? Did the Tin actually cause some corals to die?

Hit it from a few different angles, including water changes, cuprisorb, panta lite and detox.

A few things died and a ton of stuff lost its color but things turned around when my triton started reading 0 on tin again, and since that was the only thing odd on triton and I haven’t changed lights or flow it just made sense through elimination.

I got a little bored over the weekend, so naturally that transitioned into my screwing around with the aquascape in the tank. Ideally, I'd like to get a little more room for a few more corals, although, REALLY IDEALLY, I'd just need a bigger tank lol

Don't mind the aiptasia, I keep those around for a reason these days haha

@daelie Awesome photo skills. Do you have room for those frags? Looks like you started with a minimalist type aquascape.

Thanks.

I definitely do not have room for the frags but it’s difficult to stop buying them haha. I’ll have to slow down a bit before I can get a larger tank.

I started off minimalist aquascape, indeed. I liked it better that way, but I’m finding myself trying to rearrange everything so I’ll be able to fit a few more small rocks in there somewhere somehow.

I don't think much has changed inside the cabinet in quite a long time.

I did retrofit my Giesemann T5 by adding 2 Reefbrite XHO. They pretty much fit perfectly into the fixture.

It was an 8 bulb fixture, so I was hoping that it would just be simple to remove 2 bulbs and replace them with the xhos. So we got all the bulbs out and stripped off the reflectors, a little dusty on the inside.

I wanted to do a config like:

2 bulbs
Xho
2 bulbs
Xho
2 bulbs

So we had to cut down the reflectors to 2 wide each and sand them smooth so I don’t end up cutting myself down the road.

Luckily, maybe, the reefbrites weren’t too hard to mount roughly where we thought they should fit. The only extra thing was drilling a couple holes for the xho brackets to sit a little off of the top to keep the air flowing through the fixture.

Put the reflector back in and fired up half of the fixture to make sure it did indeed still work haha

A little rinse and repeat on the other side and voila: t5/led hybrid.

A little hole in the back (on the left) for the two reefbrite power cords and it all got wrapped up.
A good afternoon.

I'd say about 4 months from dry rock to really seeing growth on the acros. Then a setback of about 6-8 months for metals leeching from my Jebao return pump and I haven't had a setback since then. Hopefully that continues.

Nice! Dang leeching metals. I think I may be leeching something right now. Need to send a ICP off.
