I am using similar set up but bigger using 1.5 AC compressor connected to a titanium coil and controlled by 16A Ringder RC112R thermostat. Running trouble fee for more than two years. As I am in India my chiller will run through out the day to keep the water temperature at 25.7 to 26.1c. We don’t need heater in our place [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3][emoji3].
Will post the pictures once I am back home.

I install similar mini split systems for customers . Yours has to be 12,000btu minimum, you know you could tee off and cool some of your home? Very nice. Thanks for photos. Many thanks

Thank you. It’s 1.5tonnes compressor. We in our home don’t use AC often. (Save electricity for reef)

Oh I may have many questions for you soon I have been thinking about installing a split system in my home. But back to your chiller I have never taken a window unit apart I guess there must be a way to recharge the refrigerant

We add valves to them. There's valves you braze on, some straddle the pipe like clamp on using bolts. Many ways. You reminded me, need to see where my valves are stored

@Mark Gray On choosing a mini-split. If budget permits go with Mitsubishi brand, ahead of the competition. Warranties great. But for a 1100 square foot home materials alone apprx. $6000-$9000. Depends where bought. But saving on electricity big.

Ive thought about this many times as I am a mech. engineer but what has held me back was not knowing what would happen when if it leaks- the risk of pumping the refridgerant through the coil which is in the water. Also, though titanium is ok in saltwater, its not a very good conductor of heat transfer.

How is the titanium working out so far?

Titanium will non corrosive to salt water. When the coil is in one piece there is no chance of leak unless it’s damaged in transit which is obivious to see. Only care needed to be taken is while welding or joining the copper tube with the coil for leakage and again this joint is also out of water.

These DIY Aircon units to chiller have been used since many years in Asia. Especially if one has visited Indo and Sg.
Brazing would not be recommended.
https://www.swagelok.com/en/product/Fittings
use these fittings, they simple plug and play.
Aircon units chill faster compared to commercial chillers, they save a tonne of electricity.

Good luck mate.

Thanks for info. Waiting on parts. I'm just going to put coils into tank. All connections outside of tank, so not freon into water. Simple design. You'll see soon.

The connections will be flare fittings. A little silver solder.
