Trying to set my Jager but when I set it to 78 on the dial the tank was heated past 78.0 so I lowered the temp till the light would turn off cause the tank was in the perfect temperature. Light turned off when dial was on 73 but now the tank temp dropped to 77.6 and the light won't come back on. So hard configuring this thing. Anyone got any tips or tricks to get this down exactly?

It takes a bit of time.
I’d observe it for a few days. And make small adjustments.

76 - 77 is actually fine. 81 is too. I just never like to hit 75 and 83.

You’ll find the sweet spot.

Hard to find that sweet spot, I dont want to accidentally over heat the tank

I loom at a heater as a cold temp preventive not a temp control. Set at the the min temp you want your tank at for me its 74°f. All built in thermostats are a margin for error at least +-5°f so you will need to play with it a little. I also highly recommend having a controller run the heater.

Put heater in water with an accurate thermometer (or two). Let it do its thing for a couple hours or so. Come back and turn the red pointer to whatever temp is shown on the thermometer, then set blue dial to the temp you want. Done.
