I switched my hamilton m59 ballasts to hamilton e-ballasts. Now, is it ok to run radiums? will the ballast underdrive the bulbs? I heard the bulbs are only really rated at 360 watts? so wont the under driving the bulbs be just right, for the 360 watt rating:squigglemouth:? what is the best 20k bulb to run on a 400 watt e-ballast with decent PAR value?

There are so, so many conflicting views on what is the best bulb to run on an e-ballast....any info would be appreciated.

I think you are best running them on a pulse start magnetic ballast. I would think that the e-ballast will underdrive them, giving you shorter bulb life, but I can't say for sure as I haven't used this combo.

The need for an HQI ballast is only for the Radium 250w bulbs. The Radium 400w bulbs will actually run better on an electronic ballast versus a magnetic hqi ballast.
