If I’m being honest, I was fully unaware that this is a possible issue with Zoanthids. I found this article from Reefs.com to be helpful and somewhat reassuring

Can’t tell if this is a paly or zoa. Was sold to me as “polyps on rock”

Looks like zoas to me

So, it looks like those polyps are holding some sand and that could be a potential sign of Palythoa.

I found this youtube video interesting on the topic -

And if you see the following text @ https://masna.org/masna-education/p...MI-fmk74WD7wIVGPjICh0EsgezEAMYASAAEgKQoPD_BwE

True Palythoa are brownish though some have bright shades of green. They are also very slimy and the tissue itself feels rough as they incorporate sand and other hard material into their tissue to strengthen themselves (Sprung 2003). The family Zoanthidae is the exception and they do not incorporate any particulates into their body.

By the way, this is not a fear thread. Just hoping to help the user decide the type based on things I have stumbled upon from my own research.

The kind of Palythoa that poisoned me and some other in Sweden is Grey.
I have had clear red Palythoas some years ago. And they both had stuff incorporated in their bodies.
