Greetings....As I start to purchase the most basic equipment required in a reef tank (down to thermometers, heaters and such), I am wondering if I need to concentrate not only on quality, but the ability to connect any of these devices to a controller. To be embarrassingly honest, I'm not even sure what is out there. A controller WILL be purchased eventually, but not at the beginning. I need to spend that $$ on the basics and, while I have some disposable income, it is not bottomless. There's SO much to consider and while I want to automate at some point, it is not now. So what do y'all think?

A heater controller is the only one I don't consider optional. Best piece of equipment you can buy. I use inkbird.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
