Ever had a coral eat a fish??

I was going through an older build thread here on R2R, and found this picture... And it got me thinking...I've had corals eat crabs and snails before, but never had one feed on a fish yet. How about you guys? How crazy would this be!?

What kind of coral is that? Beautiful.

Had a carpet anemone eat a mandarin. Got them at the same time. 30min later the mandarin was tail deep.

That is a wilsoni. Not mine, but I'm definitely jealous of it.

Years ago I used to throw in a half dozen goldfish a month for mushrooms to feed on. They would turn beautiful color afterward...would absorb color from the goldfish ...they sucked them in headfirst, leaving their tails sticking out.

Ive had a Amplexidiscus fenestrafer eat a small clown fish that was behaving as if he wanted it to be his home. It just slowly closed up and the clown was gone.

I lost a Sohal tang to one of my nems.. never found the body and seared our tank, never could find him.

And now... all the rest of us will feed goldfish to our mushrooms...

My Duncan ate the smallest of my Anthias. I’m pretty sure this little lady was dying or dead already because she was being bullied by the biggest of the Anthias. I just know she was being digested when I woke up the next morning.

My wife’s Duncan coral also ate a fish. She just added a small clownish to pair with her big female. The next morning we looked everywhere for him, even moved rocks around during a water change. We finally saw the little dude’s tail sticking out of the Duncan.

I don't have a picture of mine but my wild caught Elegance coral ate a wrasse and a goby that would use the underside of the Elegance for shelter. Love the coral so have to deal with this issue. Currently a yellow wrasse seems to use the underside to bury himself next to at night.....days are numbered I'm afraid for the wrasse but we'll see!

He didn’t technically eat him but he did try. So did the mini max and this guy.
Shrimp was bigger than both of them.

Careful with the clown trigger for sure...Triggers love crustaceans and other fish..eyeing the filefish next!!

I have lost fish to my large anemones, but almost always when it was dying and blundered in. Never lost a fish to a coral, that I know of, even the larger polyed ones.

42 years ago I was sold a mushroom that turned out to be an elephant ear. I lost 5 fish over 2 months all at night before I realized what was going on. It did grow big, but I had to re-home. There was a lot of learn as you go back in those days.

Just found this thread and figured I’d bring it back to life. Plate coral of mine ate a hermit crab a few weeks ago. Fed the tank this morning everything was fine. 2 hrs later my son calls to tell me my plate coral is eating my firefish. Poor guy was toast. Not sure what happened as I wasn’t around to witness it.
