Has anyone kept either saddleback or bicinctus clownfish before? I'm looking to get some clownfish that aren't ocellaris/percula, and these two seem to be the only others that aren't super territorial. I would pick the saddleback clowns over the bicinctus, but I read that they won't naturally be hosted by BTAs, and prefer haddoni carpets. Is this the case? I know that bicinctus live in BTAs in the wild. I would like to avoid other species of host anemone as my tank is only a 65 gallon, and a carpet/magnifica would grow too large. Thanks!

Saddle back are very aggressive clowns. The problem with this clown is it routinely go INTO the anemone all the time. These clowns will rip and eat tissue inside a healthy Haddoni and kill it. Happened to me twice and I I will not keep another pair.

Yikes! Sounds like I should definitely stay away from them, in that case.

both of those are aggressive clownfish, skunk clownfish are probably the least aggressive

Have you ever kept skunks? I read on FishBase that they won't naturally live in BTAs on the reef, but lots of people have also had them take right to bubble tips. Thanks!

How about a pair of Spotcintus Clowns? Thats what I have. Look kinda like the ones you wanted to get. Have no problem hosting my BTAs. Are only territorial to me when I have my hand in the tank lol.

Was looking at those, but eventually ordered a pair of orange skunk clownfish yesterday. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Bicinctus are my favorite! I had no issues with them. One was eaten by a Eunice worm and I found the mate on the carpet- probably trying to escape the Eunice worm (which I didn’t realize I had at the time).
