I am setting up a non cycled QT. My DT is cycled and will be ready for my first fish (pair of clowns) my question is, when I bring the clowns home and add them to the QT do I add any medication or am I just watching them in the QT for any signs of problems? If I am using medication, what is the medication I will use or what will I use as they are in the QT for the first time? Thanks for the help!

I treat every fish as if they have flukes, ich, velvet, brook, and intestinal parasites. All fish go through at least 30 days of quarantine and prophylactic medications to prevent transfer of disease into my displays.

This is the preferred method among most of us here:

I’m worried about your term, “non cycled QT”. Many quarantine failures can be traced to lack of a solid bio filter in the system.
