Hello R2R. New to the site but not new to forums. Anyway a little introduction about me before I go on about my new build. I was introduced into reef tanks around the age of 14. My friend wanted to make an anemone propogation tank. And he asked me of I wanted to help, as I have always loved fish and kept freshwater. I quickly said yes and we went to the fish store. He was 17 at the time and could drive to the LFS. I knew nothing about saltwater, and he had a very poorly kept 26 bow, as he did not have the funds to invest in decent equipment. I had some money from my parents as well as from my past birthday and graduation. And off we went to a LFS. We had a budget of around $500 and needed a set up to start the nem tank. We decided on a used 58 tank and stand as our set up. Unfortunately a couple weeks after setting up the 58 he had to get rid of all of his tanks. I got the 58 and that became my tank, where I decided I wanted to change things up. I wanted to go mixed reef. After a few bad decisions, not running a skimmer, not doing water changes, forgetting to feed my fish, this set up failed. I broke the tank down after about a year of running. Not 2 months after I sold everything off I looked on Craigslist and saw a nicely priced 125 full set up. I am still running the 125 and it will be broken down soon for the 190. Onto the 190 now.

EQUIPMENT:
Skimmer- Aquamaxx Q3
Lights- 48" 6 bulb dimmable Ati Sunpower.
Flow- Gyre XF 130, 2 RW15, 1 MP40WES
Reactors- 2 bashsea GFO,Carbon reactors.
Doser- Jeabo DP4 and really slick dosing containers.
Heaters- 2 Finnex 300 watt titanium
Return- Jeabo DC12000, DC9000
Fuge light- coral compulsion par 30 fuge light.
Sump- 75 gallon custom baffles.
Frag Tank Equipment:
Tank- DB30
Light- Kessil A350, Artic OR T247
Flow- RW4, RW8
Rack- Mad Rack from Bashsea

Fish:
ALREADY HAVE
2 Picasso Clowns (pair)
1 Midas blenny
3-5 longspine cardinals (have 3)
1 Flame Angel
1 Yellow Coris Wrasse
1 Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
1 blue star Leopard wrasse
1 Leopard Potters Wrasse
1 Yellow Eye Kole Tang
1 Blue Hippo Tang
WANT TO ADD:
1 Yellow Tang
1 Purple Tang
1 Leopard Wrasse
3-5 Chromis
A few more Wrasses I see at my LFS

Coral:
I would like to go mainly Acros, with a variety of montis, digis, stylos, b nests, and other colorful SPS. LPS wise I love Acans, Euphyllia, Wellsophylia, Some scolys, as well as some blastos and other stuff I see. Softies- I collect many zoas, so the frag tank and the 190 will have a huge assortment of z&ps.

Let me know what you think about my stocking ideas, as well as what you would reccomend for fish. The tank should be going up very soon, and hopefully it will be a good one!

Any progress?
We finished the electric last week and we got the stand in place but the 75 gallon sump won't fit in the doors or top, so we need to take the top off the stand to get the sump in. When that happens this build will go much quicker!

Sorry for the long update. Been quite busy with my existing 125 and school and work. But I've gotten all the plumbing done, added the water and aquascaped. The tank has been cycling for about 2 weeks and will test soon. I have one of my reactors going with a little bit of carbon to help get rid of any kind of chemicals that may be in the water. Skimmer is off for now.

As you can see the 6 bulb fixture is very far back considering how deep the tank is. I figure this may be an advantage to put more delicate corals in the shade and my higher light sps up higher in the water column. More updates to come!

All my fish died from marine velvet and I pretty much got out of the hobby.
I'm sorry to hear that. But don't give up. We all run into problems. Do you still have the tank?
