I decided to give the Triton Method a shot on my system. I have a 265g display plumbed to a remote equipment room in the garage that has a 125g sump with live rock, a 40g refugium that is now stocked with macros, and a 40g frag tank.
I already had some chaeto going in the refugium, so I ordered some macro packs from live-plants.com and got them placed this weekend. I know Triton recommends the refugium be in overflow chamber so that the algae have first crack at the nutrients, but I already had this remote one set up so hopefully that will work. I love all the colors of the fuge now and look forward to hopefully seeing it fill up!
I already had a fantastic GHL doser, so I just had to order some of the CORE7 supplements and got those started yesterday at 30mLs per day spread out over 12 doses spaced 10 minutes apart. I got a little creative with the dosing tube holder. I know they are supposed to land in a high flow area, so that is why I chose that area. The overflow is to the left and the live rock in the sump is to the right, so it is falling in a pretty good waterfall area. This morning I read that the supplements should be landing in the return area of the sump, so if anyone from Triton sees this post and can clarify, that would be great!
Last but not least, here is a recent full tank shot. This tank has been set up for about 7 months. A lot of the live stock came over from my last tank, but since this tank is almost 3 times my last one, I did get to add quite a few new fish. Now I am hopeful that it will soon be filling up with corals as well.
Thanks for looking!
