I have a stock 29g oceanic biocube looking to upgrade. The blue light went out it. Its not the light bulb. I am a newbie when it come to lighting. I know nothing about it. All I know is that it creates photosynthesis for my corals. I know I am limited on the selection of corals I can get with my stock lighting. What is the difference and the best between the t5, and LED. I am on a budget something around $120.

I like that heathd.hd. went to their website good prices. What do you guys think about AquaticLife T5 HO Dual Lamp Light Fixture? Its for a 29g bio cube so the price is only $80. But that would mean I would need to take the top off.

I'm not convinced that the two bulb will be enough.

try Amazon.com or Ebay for Led's; 150 watts can pretty much keep any type of corals. Good luck

We have this fixture and got it for $80.00 but it is only 48 watts, ok for some softies and some lps.

Your ballast probably went out for your original lights. Led upgrades are the best solution due to heat/low light problems with stock lighting. Rapidled and steve's leds offer nice retro kits for the biocubes but not for less than $200.00. Other options require either cutting the hood or removing it. In that scenario where you remove the hood the cheap ebay leds are your best cheapest bet.

I used to have the marine orbit fixture in my hood. Not enough light. I replaced that with a rapidled retro kit and love it.
