Been there done it got the tshirt Freddie :D if I coulda sold gha and Dino’s be a millionaire:p
hang tough it will snap into place. Glad your still itching and enjoying whats thriving and working.
as for bb vs sand bed I lean to a sand bed being helpful. My tanks happier since I keep hands out mostly but I think last addition of some live mud and sand from Fla. added missing bacteria, nutrients, and filtration help down in sump.
Thanks, Ray

Freddie have yiu done an icp test ...I would recomend one and correct any halogens or metals that are off ..things like zinc , nickel vanidium ,molybdenum , potassium, iodine ..

Mack,
I have not, really need to pull an ati-icp test.

I'll pull the trigger on one and reply back.

Lol
Need you guys to help with its results.

Hey Freddie How goes it?

Good, Ray
Thanks for asking.

Appreciate everyone's support going forward.

They have finally shipped back the Abyzz with a new controller. Comes in tomorrow.

Learned one thing:
The big ducan colony stopped opening for a long time.
Once re-started to dose Reef Energy its polyps have remained wide open.
:)

Man,
The Green Slimer totally RTN'd out in 8 hours. All other livestock is doing well.

Got two ATI icp test kits, but waiting a tad longer to send one in.

Missed AF Balling (Went with the Comp Pro version this time), so shut down and pulled out the calcium reactor.

Looks like the alk (daily) dose is locked in, and going to install a ReefDose 4 over the weekend. Right now the Red Sea ReefBeat app has been flawless with the two ReefWaves. lol Will post if things change with the Red Sea app.

Still have a small amount of the funky hair algae hanging on.

lol
The algae reactor is holding phos at .04ppm, but nitrates have not budged.

Best thing:
Our youngest granddaughter's birthday (Heidi) rolled around mid-October, she turned 4 years old. Both sides of the family got together and we had a super nice bonfire... :D

How are things with you?

Nice Freddie sounds a solid plan reef wise. How long with the reef waves?
a belated happy birthday to your little lady! One smile from her and would guess no reef troubles seem to matter anymore :)

Still got some work to do with wiping out the hair algae, and going to order another Green Slimer in 2022.

I bought the ReefWave 25 in the summer of 2020 and the RF-45 this past summer from Marine Depot. I was able to link in the ReefDose within 5 minutes, but then it wanted to start to calibrate each pump. I was not ready, so I unplugged the ReefDose and put it back into its box.

ReefBeat instantly sent an email that the ReefDose was offline, so I know the alerts to work.

To be honest, I'm a huge fan of the Apex DOS pumps, but shelling out that much money for two was out of the budget.

On the same topic:
The BRS / Neptune / EcoTech situation within Bertram's umbrella.
They just went sky-high with Apex controller's pricing.

The basic Apex EL has jumped up to $560.00... ;Sour

lol
I'll stick with Neptune, but may this $250.00 classic last many more years.

Happy Thanksgiving

Had a nice day, sure hope you did too.

___________________________________________________________________________

Can't remember the last water change date

Nitrates:
At first, the Hanna HR Checker was nailing Salifert.

Then they started to really rise. Salifert looked to be coming in at 40ppm, but the HR Checker hit 71.2ppm. The Hanna takes 7 mins to test the final results, then I noticed if you let Salifert sit for 7 mins (not just 3) it does get up there??

Well,
Finally took the cal reactor offline (no flow) and broke it down for storage. Yes ph levels have gone up.

Put on a dimmer and a Ehiem 550 gph on to the Pax Bellium algae reactor.

Have no clue if getting the cal reactor's media out of the equation or if the Pax Bellum kicked in, but we're down over 20ppm in nitrates within two weeks. We'll just keep letting things roll... ;Writing

We have been on AF Comp Pro balling for a while.
Alk and Cal's doses have both been locked in at 45mls per day of each.

The first time I balled the part 3 had no effect on true mag. test results.
Not sure about this new Pro version. When mag lowers to around 1350ppm (lol) we'll try a 45ml dose of Comp 3.

I can honestly say that the coral colors have really kicked in, but they did the same thing with AF's original full Balling formula back in late 2015.

Took a good while, but phos hit .13ppm. We just started to very slightly tumble some GFO.

ReefDose 4
So, far so good. This app really does the job, you just have to follow each screen's institutions to get it set up. I picked it to dose over a 24 hour period. It does divide the daily dose by 24 then doses that number each hour and separates alk, cal a mag does by 10 min apart from each other.

Did a one dose test:
Told cal to do a one-time dose of 45mls and did the same thing with alk.
Went back to the home screen. After 10 min it dosed 45 mls of cal, ten min. later it dosed 45 mls of alk, then it picked up on the 24-hour tiny hourly dose.

One negative, to this point:
The tubing is a funky ID and you may need to DIY to make the holding tank's connection to a hard tube pipe... ;Wacky

Quick (rough) top-down. below the S-Series power center/compartment.

Pink - cal Comp 1/ Blue - alk Comp 2 / Green - Mag Comp 3

They forgot to ship back the driver's power cable, it should be here on Saturday.

Simon,
Appreciate the fact that you always tag along… :)

Trough a lot of partial water changes and dosing up phosphates.
Nitrates are down from 72ppm to 17ppm. The algae reactor has worked a tad bit on nitrates. It seems to hold each level after we’ve brought those down. Have harvested a full batch of cheato once and probably a tad more than I would have liked to removed. The cheato is still nice and green, but a long ways away to say the reactor was the right long haul option. I also put a dimmer on it’s leds.

Besides the AF Comp Pro that we’re dosing, is Reef Energy and Iron with Magansees.

The calcium reactor setup is on sale in the dry goods forum. If it does not sell, just fine to keep it boxed and stored in the garage.

Have had a lot of offers far away, but it’s a local sell and eating about $800.00 of todays pricing.

Still impressed with the Red Sea app.

Pictures:
When you see green on the rock-work, it is a green type of coralline.
Some new acro frags, the tiny one on top is being stubborn about kicking in.
The chalice is an Pink *******
Dead Stag: The Green Slimer that I killed… ;Sorry

Still have some ways to go but feel like the reef is heading in the right direction.

Gorgeous Pics!
curious what level did you bring po4 up to to get nitrates coming down? Have been trying it as always at .04 but since only Algae is dusting on glass to clean every few days and half dollar spot on one rock don’t want to end up feeding a round 72 of all the algaes defeated to date

Thanks

Thinking that was why I was jumping to dino’s and back into cyano.
PO4 getting too low while doing water changes.

Been dosing up phosphates with this product.

It’s directions are pretty spot on.

Noticed (tested) every time that I did a 15 gallon water change PO4 would drop by .2ppm. Sitting at .5ppm at the moment

I got ya good info to me. I’m .04 with high nitrates. Know that the two have A normal ratio and Have read a huge imbalance can impede the others being cycled. your numbers can give me an idea of how much I may want to raise po4 to see if nitrates can reduce a bit quicker. Thanks kind sir
