Hammer bailing out polyps, need help!

Nitrates 10
Nitrite 0
PH 8.2
Salinity 1.026
Phosphates 0.24
Alkalinity 9.8 keeps going up although i keep lowering daily kalkwasser amount dripped
Calcium 470
Iodine 0.06
Magnesium 1220

these are my current parameters….is the magnesium low enough to cause polyp bailout? I have brs mag mix and ati icp test on the way, should be here Friday.

I mean, your alkalinity is in the ideal range, and even though your magnesium is a bit low it's not brutally low. I'd probably start dosing magnesium to try and get this up to around 1350 (I run mine higher in the 1450 range). I've had a few hammers do the same thing and couldn't figure what the heck was up either.

It’s just super frustrating because the heads were looking nice and full with no retraction. Not getting beat by flow, nice steady sway…so no precursor signs to indicate any issues were at hand.

In my limited experience, it's been the changes in parameters that have had the most devastating effect on my corals. What were your parameters before this last test? If pests, flow and lighting have been ruled out, I'm guessing you'll find your answer in the difference.

I hope you get it sorted!

How was alk before? Did you raise it fast or this is the number it always is?
